Hello,
My laptop for the past few days will not work without being plugged in,
It actually says right now 2% availiable (plugged in, not charging)
I have tried all the methods I can find by google on this fourm
Such as disabling the batteries through device manager
I have test the ac adapter , no problems there.
Battery tested OK,
I have done a soft reset on my laptop, didn't work
I have downloaded updated BIOS drives that didn't work,
My last attempt was a full reinstallation of windows and still the problem persists.
I'm fresh out of ideas,
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hello @mrohso,
The fact that the result came out as unknown and the current is stuck at 0 mA most likely confirms that the AC adapter is failing. I can conclude that the laptop is just running off the AC adapter but is not able to be actually charged.
If you're under warranty (which I'm assuming not), contact HP:
Contact HP Worldwide here.
Phone HP Worldwide here.
Check warranty status here.
Find an HP Authorized Service Center near you here.
Otherwise, I think it's in your best interest to purchase a new AC adapter.
The HP Notebook - 15-ay041wm uses a 3-cell, 31-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery with HP Spare Part number 807956-001.
You also have the 4 cell option which will give you more juice: 807957-001
You can then use the HP Spare part number(s) in the HP Parts store here. You may also be able to find it elsewhere on the Internet.
Replacing the battery is simply unlocking the battery lock by sliding the battery latches on the bottom cover.
Hopefully, the new AC adapter will do the trick.
Best regards,
Eddy

Hello @mrohso,
Alright well you've exhausted most options.
It'd be great if you were able to see the advanced results of the battery in HP Support Assistant's Battery Check if possible:
If a power reset and software options have all been exhausted, this would be the (unfortunate) recommended course of action:
- Test a different AC adapter (Purchase new if necessary)
- Purchase a new battery
- Suspect a problem with the motherboard
It'd be great if you had a similar AC adapter from a relative or friend to test on your computer.
Best regards,
Eddy

@EddyK
I tried another adapter but it was a different HP notebook
But I will replace both and give that a shot and if that doesn't work.
Ahh. I might have to go somewhere else with this. I never had a problem like this with all the laptops I purchased.
