Hi!
I bought my HP Notebook about a month ago. I've made no changes and done nothing to the computer except give it light duty use.
The battery is fully charged and there appears to be no problem there.
I unplugged it a couple days ago and used it with no issue. It was the first time I'd used it without the power plug. Then, last night when I unplugged the power plug the computer shut down immediatly. It continues to shut down when unplugged and cannot be powered up no mater what I try.
I've tried a few minor power setting options that I read on forums but now have reset back to default options. Still nothing.
I would appreciate some help on this issue. Thanks in advance!

Hi @123456shreyas,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop shuts down immediately when you unplug the charger, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check the battery: Ensure that your laptop battery is properly seated and securely connected. If the battery is loose or not properly connected, it may cause the laptop to shut down when the charger is unplugged. If possible, try removing the battery and reinserting it securely.
- Check the power settings: Sometimes, power settings can cause a laptop to shut down when the charger is unplugged. Open the power settings on your laptop and check if there are any settings related to what happens when the charger is disconnected. Make sure the settings are set to your preference or to a balanced power mode.
- Test with a different charger: It's possible that your laptop charger is faulty and not providing sufficient power to the laptop or not charging the battery properly. Try using a different charger, preferably an original or compatible one, to see if the issue persists.
- Reset the BIOS settings: Resetting the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) settings can sometimes resolve power-related issues. To reset the BIOS, restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing the appropriate key (usually Del, F2, or Esc) during the boot process. Look for an option to reset the BIOS to its default settings or load the default settings.
- Update drivers and firmware: Outdated or incompatible drivers or firmware can sometimes cause power-related issues. Visit the official HP support website, enter your laptop's model number, and download the latest drivers and firmware updates available for your specific model. Install them and restart your laptop.
- Check for overheating: Overheating can also cause unexpected shutdowns. Ensure that your laptop's cooling vents are clean and not blocked by dust or debris. You can use compressed air or a soft brush to clean the vents. Additionally, consider using a laptop cooling pad to improve airflow and reduce heat buildup.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
