Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop's battery icon reads "3%, plugged in". But it is not charging and immediately switches off on removal of AC power.

On using it without battery, it reads "255% available, plugged in".

I have tried

  • Uninstalling/Updating battery drivers (ACPI)
  • Resetting Windows
  • Updating BIOS through HP Support Application

None of these has solved the issue and the problem still persists. The problem started yesterday. I left the laptop on SLEEP for 2 days. Has that created the issue?

Normally I would go to a HP Support Centre but everything is closed because of the COVID 19 situation so I would like an online solution.

Thanks for reading!!

Hey

It shows *Primary (internal) battery 601 error*.

*Primary battery has low storage capacity and needs to be replaced.*

I searched about the error and it shows something about a CMOS battery. What should I do now?

Hi

Was there a 24 character failure code also generated?

HP Recommended

No. Only a black screen with the *message* and a link to a HP webpage.

I am not sure if battery is the problem. I ran the HP battery diagnostics and it says OK. Here's a picture of the test.

Thanks!

I'll look for a store to get my laptop checked and buy CMOS battery. By the way, I think the previous photograph has been approved. Kindly have a look and let me know if I have to change my external battery as well.

Hi

The battery has 75% capacity I believe, but why it is not charging correctly I cannot say.
