My laptop will not go into hibernation.  Whether I shut the lid (power settings set to hibernate when lid is closed) or do it from the power/start menu, it just shuts off the screen, I think it says locking, and then just sits there like that.  As soon as I move the mouse or do anything the screen comes back on instantly.  Not sure why it won't go into hibernation.  I can't unplug this thing without the battery running down because it is always on.

I don't have the same problem, but might suggest trying to disable hibernation and then re-enabling it if you haven't already tried that.

You can accomplish this through the Control Panel / Power Settings / Choose What Buttons Do, or you can do it through a Command Prompt (run as administrator).

The Command Prompt command would be:

Powercfg.exe /h off       (this disables hibernation)

Powercfg.exe /h on       (this enables hibernation)

Hope that works for you.

Thanks for the info, but I tried disabling and re-enabling and still no dice.  When I hit hibernate, it just turns off the screen and that is it.  It is still on and as soon as I hit the tough pad, the screen comes right back on and the laptop is ready to go.  I have never run into this before.  I restarted the computer between changes too.
