I have a problem, my hp laptop keyboard backlight doesn't work. I tried to press fn+f5 and searched for solutions, but any of them didn't work. Can you help me?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?
  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

While you respond to that, let's try this workaround:

In the BIOS, select BIOS Setup or BIOS Setup Utility, and then use the arrow keys to navigate to the System Configuration tab. Make sure to enable Action Keys Mode, if it is not enabled already.

NOTE: Your BIOS version and screens might vary.

Action Keys Mode shown as Disabled

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I've never changed any hardware or software. Yeah, I tried to troubleshoot problems, but that didn't work (even tried BIOS settings, but my Action Keys Mode is already enabled). This did not happen after last Windows updates. I don't remember when keyboard backlit worked fine. Thank you for help, but any of these solutions didn't work.

Let's try system restore: System Restore returns your computer to the files and settings from the restore point. Your personal files and documents are not affected.
