Hi @786146,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot an HP Laptop 15s that isn’t turning on.
- Check Power Supply: Ensure that the laptop is connected to a working power source. Verify that the power adapter is plugged in securely to both the laptop and the wall outlet. If possible, try using a different power adapter.
- Battery Check: If the laptop has a removable battery, take it out, then press and hold the power button for about 15-30 seconds to discharge any residual power. Reinsert the battery and try powering it on again.
- Hard Reset: For non-removable batteries, perform a hard reset. Disconnect the power adapter and any external devices. Press and hold the power button for about 15-30 seconds, then release and reconnect the power adapter. Try turning on the laptop.
- Check for LED Indicators: Look for any LED lights on the laptop that might indicate power or charging status. If there are no lights, it could be a sign of a power issue.
- External Display: Connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV to check if the issue is with the laptop's display rather than the entire system.
- Listen for Beeps: If you hear beeping sounds when attempting to power on, note the pattern. Beep codes can indicate hardware issues.
- Remove External Devices: Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external keyboards, etc.) and try turning on the laptop. Sometimes external peripherals can cause startup issues.
- Check for Overheating: If the laptop has been running hot, it might not turn on until it cools down. Ensure the laptop is in a well-ventilated area and let it rest for a while.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
