Hey, I have an HP 17-cp0175ng laptop and every time it was in standby mode or shut down I have to restart it because if I don't do that I keep having lags. Does anyone know how to fix the problem?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Stealex,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP 17-cp0175ng laptop is experiencing performance issues after coming out of standby or shutdown.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

  • Update Drivers: Ensure all your drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause performance issues. Software and Drivers for HP Notebook - 17-ca0007nq
  • Power Settings: Check your power settings to ensure they are optimized. Sometimes, power-saving settings can affect performance when the laptop resumes from standby.
  • BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop from HP's support website. Sometimes BIOS updates can improve system stability and performance.
  • Background Programs: Make sure there are no unnecessary programs running in the background that could be consuming resources. You can check this using Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  • Disk Cleanup: Perform a disk cleanup to remove temporary files and free up disk space. Sometimes a cluttered hard drive can affect performance.
  • Check for Malware: Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to rule out any malware or viruses that could be causing the performance issues.
  • Reset Power Settings: If you've customized power settings, consider resetting them to default and see if it improves performance.
  • Hardware Check: If none of the above steps work, consider running hardware diagnostics to check for any hardware issues that might be affecting performance. HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures

I hope this helps.
