HP Pavillion x360 m convertible

I’ve had this laptop for a little over a year now but I’ve barely used it because it has always run so slow. I put it up for a while but I’m now in school and need it on the regular.  It freezes non stop. Anytime I try to open something or exit out it freezes. I can’t even hit shut down I just have to push the power button until it turns off.
