Hi @Reetbeest,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are trying to perform a clean install of Windows 11 on your HP 15.6 Inch Laptop PC 15-D5000 (4V9Y1AV) using UEFI, you'll need to create a bootable USB drive with the Windows 11 installation files.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do this:
Step 1: Create a Bootable USB Drive
Prepare a USB Drive: You will need a USB drive with at least 8 GB of storage.
Download the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool:
- Go to the Windows 11 download page. HP PCs - Installing Windows 11 from a USB flash drive Link Media Creation Tool
- Download the Windows 11 Installation Media Creation Tool.
Run the Media Creation Tool:
- Open the downloaded tool and accept the license terms.
- Select Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC.
- Choose the language, edition, and architecture (select both 32-bit and 64-bit if unsure).
- Select USB flash drive as the media to use and proceed to create the bootable USB drive.
Step 2: Boot from the USB Drive
Insert the USB Drive into your HP laptop.
Access the BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Turn on or restart your laptop.
- Immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
- Press the F10 key to enter the BIOS Setup.
Change Boot Order:
- In the BIOS Setup Utility, navigate to the Boot tab.
- Set the USB drive as the first boot device. This might be listed under Boot Devices or UEFI Boot Order.
- Save the changes and exit the BIOS (usually by pressing F10 and confirming).
Step 3: Install Windows 11
Boot from the USB Drive:
- Your laptop should now boot from the USB drive and start the Windows 11 installation process.
Install Windows 11:
- Select your language preferences and click Next.
- Click Install now.
- When prompted for a product key, you can skip this step if your laptop has a digital license.
- Accept the license terms and click Next.
- Select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced).
- Choose the drive where you want to install Windows 11. This is usually the largest partition.
- Click Next to start the installation.
Complete the Installation:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of Windows 11.
- Once the installation is complete, your laptop will reboot and continue with the setup process.
Step 4: Install Drivers and Updates
Connect to the Internet:
- Once Windows 11 is installed, connect to the internet.
Install Drivers:
- Windows 11 will automatically download and install most drivers. However, you may need to visit the HP Support website to download and install any specific drivers for your laptop.
Update Windows:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates to ensure your system is fully updated.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
