Hello KristenLee,

This is a sure sign of an underpowered AC adapter.

HP will unfortunately probably not be able to provide you with a new AC adapter because you are out of the manufacturers 1-year warranty.

Eddy

Hello KristenLee,

Please check whether this is a hardware issue:

  1. Repeatedly press Esc upon startup
  2. Select F2 (System Diagnostics)
  3. Select the desired language
  4. Navigate to component tests
  5. Select Power Source Test - run AC adapter and battery separately if they are not available

Post back with the results please.

Regards,

Eddy

Well I tried doing the above, the battery worked fine with no faults and it would not let me to the AC because already decribbed while the laptop is on it won't reconise the AC plugged in, which it needs to run the test.

I'm tempted to buy another charging cable but reluctant because I've already purchased another Battery in the hope that it will fix it with no luck.

Hello CJUK22,

This is an extremely classic example of an underpowered AC adapter. I highly recommend you purchase one to solve your issue.

The HP Pavilion 15-au030wm (Touch) (ENERGY STAR) uses a Smart AC power adapter (45 watt) - 4.5mm barrel connector, non-power factor correcting (NFPC) with HP Spare Part number 741553-850. You can choose to purchase a power cord, but it's unnecessary:

You can then use the HP Spare part number(s) in the HP Parts store hereYou may also be able to find it elsewhere on the Internet.

I did find one on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-65W-HP-710412-001-714635-850-741553-850-710340-850-ac-adapter-char...

The charger on eBay is listed as 65W but that is the normal power specification of the AC adapter and it's just that the computer only requires 45W.

Hope this helps,

Eddy

i don't think it is the AC.  I have tried to different power units and nither work. i checked the specs and they are fine. Any other suggestions?

Tried to get help from HP but as we were a few months out of warranty they refused.  Honestly the support from HP is terrible. Comparing to Apple, who will support any product as long as you ask, i expect more. Same as the other poster here, if i can't get this solved, it will be my last HP.  THey have always had battery issues.
