Hi @Jitajith,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're describing on your HP laptop, where the Caps Lock key blinks 3 times (2 long and 1 short) with a black screen, indicates a hardware failure. This specific blinking pattern suggests an issue with the memory (RAM). Here are some steps you can take to try and fix the issue.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Step 1: Power off the laptop completely.
  • Step 2: Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery if it's removable.
  • Step 3: Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge.
  • Step 4: Reconnect the power adapter (do not insert the battery if it’s removable) and try powering on the laptop.

Reseat or Replace the RAM:

  • Step 1: Turn off the laptop and unplug it.
  • Step 2: Open the back cover (refer to your laptop’s manual for instructions) and locate the RAM module(s).
  • Step 3: Remove the RAM by unlocking the clips on each side and carefully pulling the RAM out.
  • Step 4: Reinsert the RAM module(s), ensuring they are properly seated.
  • Step 5: If the issue persists, try using only one RAM stick at a time (if you have two) or try using a new RAM stick if available.

Reset BIOS (CMOS Reset):

  • Step 1: If the above steps don’t work, you can try resetting the BIOS settings.
  • Step 2: To do this, remove the battery (if removable) and unplug the laptop.
  • Step 3: Locate the small CMOS battery inside the laptop, disconnect it, and leave it unplugged for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Step 4: Reconnect the CMOS battery, power up the laptop, and check if the issue is resolved

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
