Hi! Is there an option to limit the battery charge for HP Victus 15? And is it good to limit it to 80% (if there's an option) or just let it stay as it is (using the laptop while it is 100% fully charged)? I tried limiting it to 80% using HP Command Center but there was no option. What is the best thing to do?

Hi @jenncina,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
On many modern laptops, including the HP Victus series, there are tools and settings that can help manage battery health, but options may vary by model. Here’s a guide on managing battery charge and the potential benefits of limiting charge to 80%:
1. Checking for Battery Management Options
HP Command Center:
- HP Command Center is a utility that typically allows you to manage various aspects of your laptop’s performance and power settings. However, not all HP laptops come with battery management options in this software.
HP Support Assistant:
- Sometimes, battery management options might be available through HP Support Assistant. Check this app to see if it offers battery optimization features.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- In some cases, battery charge settings can be configured in the BIOS/UEFI. Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing a specific key during startup (like F2, F10, or ESC). Look for any battery management settings.
2. Using Windows Settings
Battery Settings:
- Windows 10/11 offers a Battery Saver mode that helps extend battery life but doesn’t directly limit the maximum charge percentage. To enable Battery Saver, go to Settings > System > Battery.
3. Benefits of Limiting Battery Charge
Battery Longevity:
- Limiting the battery charge to 80% can help prolong the overall lifespan of the battery. Lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly used in laptops, degrade more slowly when they’re not regularly charged to 100% or fully discharged.
Best Practices:
- If your laptop doesn’t offer a built-in way to limit the charge, you might want to use the laptop plugged in while using it for intensive tasks and unplug it when you’re doing less demanding tasks to avoid keeping it at 100% charge for prolonged periods.
4. Manufacturer and Model-Specific Solutions
HP Battery Health Manager:
- Some HP laptops include a feature called Battery Health Manager in their firmware or drivers. This tool allows you to configure settings for better battery longevity, including charging thresholds.
Check HP’s Official Resources:
- Visit the HP support website or contact HP support directly for model-specific advice. They can provide guidance based on your exact model and its available features.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
