HP Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Spectre x360 -15-df0599na, running windows 10 64 bit, Build 19041, (version 2004)

I am seeing intermittent failures to output video to an external monitor over the thunderbolt 3 port (typically after waking from sleep or on restart) These can typically cured by rebooting/ unplugging the laptop and hub. The output is going via a thunderbolt 3 hub, (CalDigit TS3+). On investigation the current thunderbolt driver installed in the laptop appears to be relatively old, driver version 17.4.77.13 dated 16-05-2018, updating this driver seems a good place to start to fix this issue. In case it helps the device is marked as 'Thunderbolt(TM) Controler - 15EB' in device manager.

Looking for updated drivers on the relevant download page the most recent is 17.4.78.500 Rev.B for windows 10 v1909, which will not install as it is incompatible with my windows 10 v2004. Any idea where I could find an appropriate updated driver?

Hi:

See if you can manually install the driver as follows...

Go to the device manager.

Click on the Thunderbolt(TM) Controler - 15EB device in the device manager.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

If you did not delete the driver installation file, that folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp100927.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and see if the driver installs that way.

Then restart the PC.

There is also this same driver with a different release date and file number.

There is also a new Intel Thunderbolt 3 DCH Driver:
