I bought an HP Pavilion laptop that originally came with a lifetime Microsoft Office license. A while ago, I had an SSD issue and sent the laptop to HP support for repair. They fixed the SSD problem, but after getting it back I noticed that Microsoft Office was gone. Now it asks me to purchase a new license.

My HP warranty has already expired, so I can’t go back to HP support for help.

Has anyone else faced this? Is there a way to recover my original Office license or reinstall it without buying a new one?

Hi @Vinit102 ,

Thank you for choosing HP Community,

To get the Office package installed after an SSD replacement, you need to sign in to the Microsoft account that has the license linked to it, go to "Services & subscriptions," and then download and install the software from there. The installation will automatically activate after you sign in with your account.

Steps to reinstall Microsoft Office

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft account website at account.microsoft.com or m365.cloud.microsoft/apps.
  2. Sign in with the Microsoft account that you used when you first purchased and set up the Office license.
  3. Click on "Services & subscriptions" in the navigation menu.
  4. Locate the Office product you want to install under "Products you've purchased".
  5. Click the "Install" button.
  6. Run the downloaded setup file (e.g., OfficeSetup.exe) and follow the on-screen prompts.
  7. The software will be activated automatically after it installs and you sign in with your Microsoft account.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
