Hi @Roshnii,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the details! If your HP Pavilion 15-eg1000 laptop’s microphone array isn’t working—no volume bar movement or green bars in the recording tab—it’s likely a driver, privacy setting, or hardware detection issue. Let’s fix it step by step:

Step 1: Check Microphone Privacy Settings

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Microphone.
  3. Make sure:
    • Microphone access is on.
    • Let apps access your microphone be on.
    • Scroll down and ensure apps like Voice RecorderZoom, or Teams are allowed.

Step 2: Set the Correct Input Device

  1. Go to Settings > System > Sound.
  2. Under Input, make sure Microphone Array (Realtek or Intel Smart Sound) is selected.
  3. Click Device Properties and ensure the volume is up and not muted.

Step 3: Test in Sound Control Panel

  1. Press Windows + R, type mmsys.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. Go to the Recording tab.
  3. Right-click your microphone > Set as Default Device and Default Communication Device.
  4. Speak into the mic—do the green bars move?

Step 4: Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager (right-click Start > Device Manager).
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click Realtek Audio or Intel Smart Sound Technology > Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for drivers.

If that doesn’t help:

  • Right-click > Uninstall device (check “Delete the driver software” if available).
  • Restart your PC—Windows will reinstall the driver.

Step 5: Download Drivers from HP

  1. Go to HP’s official driver page: HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
  2. Download and install the latest:
    • Audio driver
    • BIOS update
    • HP System Event Utility

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
