I own this envy x360 laptop with a ryzen 7 5700u and integrated vega 8 graphics. I have started to run some light games on it, but it isn't performing as well as expected. I understand this is probably because of the integrated graphics, but when I investigated, I ran across something odd.
- in task manager, there is 512mb dedicated gpu memory, but then also 8gb of shared gpu memory, which comes from the RAM
- when running fortnite, barely any of the shared gpu memory is used, and fps is low
- I'd like this shared gpu memory to be used, but it isn't being used at the moment for some reason
- I've checked the bios menu to try and change this, but advanced options seem to be locked by HP

Hi @Oliver_Jullien,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
There are a few suggestions you can try to potentially improve the performance of your integrated GPU:
Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Vega 8 graphics. You can download the latest drivers from the AMD website or use the HP support website.
Windows Power Plan: Check your power plan settings in Windows. Set it to "High Performance" to ensure that the system is using the maximum resources available for better performance.
Update Windows: Make sure that your operating system is up to date. Windows updates may include optimizations and fixes that can enhance system performance.
Game Settings: Adjust the in-game settings for Fortnite to lower the graphics quality. This will reduce the workload on your GPU and may lead to better performance.
RAM Speed and Configuration: Ensure that your RAM is configured and running at its maximum supported speed. Some laptops may have RAM running at lower speeds by default. Check the BIOS settings to see if there's an option to adjust RAM speed.
Dual-Channel RAM: If your laptop has only one RAM module, consider upgrading to a dual-channel configuration. Dual-channel RAM can provide a performance boost for integrated graphics.
Temperature Monitoring: Check the laptop's temperature during gaming sessions. Overheating can lead to thermal throttling, which reduces performance. Ensure that the laptop is well-ventilated and not accumulating dust.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-
