Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings,

My computer is not on the list of products tested for the May 2020 update.(version 2004). Does that mean I will not be getting the update?

Thanks,

Shane.

Hi, Shane:

That is correct.

However that doesn't necessarily mean that your notebook can't run the latest version of W10 v2004.

You can always force the update by clicking on the blue Update Now button at the link below.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You have 30 days to revert back to your current build of W10 if things don't work to your expectations.

Just don't delete any of the upgrade files or the Windows.old folder.

I have several HP desktop and notebook PC's a whole lot older than your model's hardware, and they run W10 v2004 just fine.

Most of my PC's were built prior to 2013, so they weren't even tested for W10 at all.

Is it possible the reason my laptop wasn't tested is because it is three years old?

The Windows Update site says "The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. Once it's ready for your device, you'll see the update available on this page." Does that mean the update is blocked by the manufacturer (HP)?

If I tried to force the update using the link provided, would it still check for compatibility issues before updating?

I don't believe HP has any control over what PCS Microsoft pushes the updates to.

Yes, the update tool will check your PC to see if it can run the new version.

If it cannot, it will notify you as to why.
