Hi @coldid,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is to uninstall McAfee and still get constant pop-up windows that make your HP 14s-fq0000 laptop hard to use. You're not alone in this, and I’m here to help you fix it with care and clarity.

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Use McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR)

This tool removes all leftover files and registry entries.

Steps:

  • Download and run the tool.
  • Accept the license agreement.
  • Restart your PC after the cleanup.

2. Check for Startup Entries

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab.
  • Disable any McAfee-related entries.

3. Remove Scheduled Tasks

  • Press Windows + R, type taskschd.msc, and press Enter.
  • Look under Task Scheduler Library for any McAfee tasks.
  • Right-click and delete them.

4. Scan for Adware or Malware

Sometimes pop-ups are caused by adware pretending to be McAfee.

Use Windows Security:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection
  • Run a Full Scan

5. Block Pop-Ups in Browser

If pop-ups are browser-based:

  • Use AdBlock Plus or uBlock Origin extension.
  • Enable Pop-up blocker in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
