Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My new laptop had preinstalled mcafee livesave free 30 day trial which has expired several days ago.

However my computer security setting are still saying no action required. Mcafee is controlling defender security. I cannot find anyway to turn mcafee off and defender on except for turning on defender updates to run alongside mcafee security with defender occasional updates it says.

What's going on. Is  mcafee active or not. If not why does my settings say no action required.?

I use mcafee total security on my tablet and phone. I don't brows much on a laptop so I think defender will satisfy my needs for now. Can always change to mcafee total security if needed.

is deleting mcafee livesave the only way to get rid of its control of windows defender security.

I have not found a way of turning defender on while mcafee controls security even when it's expired.

Welcome to the HP Community.

Find out what McAfee is doing - or not doing - Check the 'net for what you need to know.

For example,

Search the 'net for "McAfee expired but sill working"

(It is not working but the search results will include where to find the answers you seek.)

For example - one of the McAfee support articles here:

https://service.mcafee.com/?locale=en-US&articleId=TS101424&page=shell&shell=article-view

Yes, when unwanted, McAfee must be removed so other security software can protect your computer.

Search the 'net or try at the McAfee website support:

McAfee - How to remove McAfee products from a PC that runs Windows

Personally, I'd take the McAfee software off the the system right away.

Defender will start working when it is allowed to do so.
