Hi,

I have bought a new HP Omnibook 5 Flip 16" around a month and a half ago. But, it keeps causing me problems.

The very first days, the PC was very slow and kept freeze, since yesterday I saw that the keyboard was unavailable (I check my setting and it was activated) after restarting it for almost 3 times, the issue was resolved. Few minutes, I saw that it kept being stuck in sleep mode and not coming a few times.

Today it's completely stuck in Sleep mode and I am starting to lose my patience. I bought it because this was suppose to be a good PC to work with. And just after 1 month, I had all kind of issues.

Please, let me know what I should do.

I am tired. I am student and I always need my PC to work with.

Hi @Alpha0108

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing what you’re experiencing—it’s incredibly frustrating when a new device doesn’t behave as expected, especially when you’ve chosen it to support your work. I’m truly sorry for the disruption this has caused.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help bring your HP Omnibook 5 Flip back to life and restore its responsiveness.

Step 1: Force a Full Shutdown

If the device is stuck in sleep or hibernate mode:

  1. Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds until the screen goes completely black.
  2. Wait 30 seconds, then press the power button again to turn it back on.

If this doesn’t work, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Perform a Hardware Reset

This clears residual power and resets hardware connections:

  1. Disconnect any external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.).
  2. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  3. Plug in the charger and try powering it on again.

Step 3: Run HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

This tool checks for hardware and software issues, including memory and keyboard responsiveness:

  • Visit: HP Diagnose & Fix
  • Click Start, download the tool, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4: Check Sleep and Hibernate Settings

To prevent future sleep-mode lockups:

  1. Open Control Panel > Power Options.
  2. Click Change plan settings next to your active plan.
  3. Select Change advanced power settings.
  4. Expand Sleep > Hibernate after and set it to Never.
  5. Expand Power buttons and lid > Lid close action and set it to Do nothing (if you prefer).
  6. Click Apply and OK.

Step 5: Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause freezing and input issues:

  • Visit: HP Omnibook 5 Flip Drivers
  • Enter your exact model and download the latest BIOS, keyboard, and chipset drivers.
  • Install them one at a time, restarting after each.

Step 6: Run HP Memory Diagnostic

To check for memory faults:

  1. Press Esc repeatedly while powering on until the Startup Menu appears.
  2. Press F2 to launch HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  3. Select Memory Test and run the Extended Test.

Let me know how these steps go. I’m here to help you get back to a smooth, reliable experience with your Omnibook.

I have the same issue and I cannot return it to Best buy as it is outside the return window. I've had/used HP's for the past 15 yrs and this is the worst experience so far all others have been wonderful and I am starting to wonder if I made a mistake getting it.
