Product: Office Jet 3831

Hi, looking for some help. My printer suddenly has decided not to print. I get this message "The indicated cartridges are not intended for the use of this printer". The cartridges have worked before and have been printing from the existing cartridge up until last week. The cartridge is HP compatible as it states on it. Never had these issues before. The cartridges were purchased from the supermarket as have i've always done in the past. Has anyone had the same problem?  Thanks for your time
