Hello,
I bought a new laptop (HP Victus 16) and I did all the updates without any problems. However, the microphone is constantly interrupting and disconnecting. It can't be a problem with the devices I use because I was using it on my old laptop. I tried with 3 different devices and I had the same problem with all of them: Hollywood M.2 microphone, TaoTronics 85 headphones and Rampage Fury X headphones. Even the sound comes to the headphones on Rampage but the microphone doesn't work at all, I tried it with jack and wireless, the problem is the same in both. I tested it in a few different ways, the sound goes away completely after a while, sometimes it gets better, sometimes the disconnections start again

@Can06, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the microphone problem!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand how frustrating it must be to have your microphone constantly cutting out, especially since you've tried multiple devices that worked fine on your old laptop. Let’s work together to get this sorted.
Here are a few things you can try:
Check Microphone Privacy Settings
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
- Make sure microphone access is enabled for apps and that "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is turned on.
Update/Reinstall Audio Drivers
- Go to Device Manager → Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
- Right-click on your audio driver (usually Realtek or AMD), select Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
- If the issue persists, try Uninstall device and restart your laptop to reinstall the driver automatically.
Check Sound Settings
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar → Sound settings.
- Scroll to Input and select the correct microphone.
- Click Device Properties → Additional device properties → Levels tab. Make sure the volume is up and not muted.
Try Windows Troubleshooter
- Open Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters.
- Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter and follow the on-screen steps.
Test in a Different User Account
- Create a new user profile (Settings → Accounts → Other users → Add account).
- Log into the new account and check if the microphone still disconnects.
If none of these steps work, let me know! We can check if there’s a firmware update or other fixes. Hope this helps, and looking forward to your update!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi,
I did everything you said. I even formatted it. Even though I did everything, there is a problem with the microphone, my voice keeps cutting out. This is the first time in my life that I am using the HP brand. I regret it and I am upset because I cannot broadcast on Kick.

@Can06, I really appreciate you trying all those steps, and I understand how frustrating this must be—especially since it’s affecting your ability to broadcast. Let's dig deeper and see if we can find the root cause together.
A few things I’d like to check:
Test with the Built-in Microphone
If you haven't already, try recording audio using the built-in microphone (Windows Voice Recorder or any other software). Does it also cut out, or is the issue only with external devices?
Disable Audio Enhancements
Open Control Panel → Sound → Recording tab.
Right-click your microphone → Properties → Enhancements tab.
Check Disable all enhancements and apply the settings.
Check Power Settings for USB Ports (If using a USB microphone)
Go to Device Manager → Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Right-click each USB Root Hub → Properties → Power Management.
Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
A Few Questions to Narrow It Down:
Does this issue happen across all apps (Discord, Zoom, Voice Recorder, etc.), or is it more frequent in certain ones?
Have you tested your external microphones on another device recently to confirm they’re still working fine?
Does the issue occur when the laptop is plugged in vs. on battery? Sometimes power settings can impact microphone stability.
Let me know how this goes! We’ll keep troubleshooting until we find a solution.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
