Hello, @MattEvans10 – Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I understand that your Iomega eGo 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive is not getting recognized on your PC. To assist you with this issue, I would like know the following details:
- Is the hard drive working on a different PC?
- Did you try plugging the hard drive to a different USB port?
- Is any other USB devices working on your PC?
Alternatively, try the steps below to try and fix the issue:
- Go to device manager.
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click on each entry and select uninstall.
- Restart the PC once done and then try to use the hard drive again.
Also, please check these forum threads with the similar issues:

Hi,
Hope you are doing good. I understood that your external hard disk is not getting recognized on your laptop. My first suggestion is connect your external hard disk to another PC or laptop and check whether it is working fine or not. If not, then absolutely problem is with your external hard disk. Everyone will be having their valuable and confidential information on external HDD. If external hard disk goes unrecognized, then entire data in it will go inaccessible. I suffered with the same problem a month back, and i tried manually on different PCs. But, failed to do so. At that time, Remo external hard drive recovery software came to my help that fixed the issues and made my external hard disk recognizable on my PC. I successfully fixed the issues and got all my data files within few minutes. Please check the thread given below to know how to deal with unrecognized external hard drive

Thank You...!

Make sure that the drive was not formatted for a Mac as those use a different file format.
If there is nothing on the drive that you want to save, you might try formatting the external drive and see what happens.
As others have stated, try it on a different computer and try a different USB cable just in case.

I am having a very similar issue, however, my external hardrive will show up under devices and printers but not under file finder. I have had IT people set it up to were it could be read by both PC and Mac. It is 2T and was showing up find on both devices before. Apart from that I can't seem to drop any files into teh drive and I have made sure that access has been allowed for everyone to read and write for both formats.
