Lately since a week, my laptop started behaving weird. I was on a website and suddenly it started scrolling down. After few restarts its still the same. Also on any window, it dows the same. Sometimes it works fine, but sometimes it keeps doing the same thing. Kindly suggest what is the best way to fix this issue.
Thank you,
Sid.

Thank you for reaching out to the HP community. A good day to you. I will be happy to assist you here. Terrific description of the issue. Kudos to you for that.
- Did this happen after a software or Windows update?
- Did this occur after a recent power outage or surge?
Let's try these steps:
- Perform a hard reset on the computer by following directions from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768
- Then perform extensive diagnostics on the notebook by following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259 (HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures)
- Follow instructions from the section "Run the Extensive Test (2 hours or more)"
- If diagnostics fail. then make a note of the failure code for the failed component. The computer needs to be repaired and the components replaced.
If diagnostics pass then perform these steps:
Run all the latest Windows 10 updates and install it correctly on the computer.
- Later update the bios, chipset, graphics and touchpad drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Also, run all the latest HP support assistant updates.
- Then configure the touchpad by following relevant instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-n200-notebook-pc-series/6529948/model/6622489/do... (HP Notebook PCs - Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)
This should fix it for you.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
