I have a HP Envoy Poly Studio and reloaded the bios after a recovery . Now my HP Wide Vision 5MP Camera will not work and it displays a message "! Your camera is reporting that it is blocked or turned off by a switch or button on your device. Please unblock it or turn the switch on to use it"

But I can not find a camera on/off switch or button on my Product A32PTUA#ABC

I went an updated all the drivers but still am getting the same message and on boot up it says "Please unblock your camera"

Hi @Ducko,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Wide Vision 5MP camera on your HP Envy / Poly Studio (A32PTUA#ABC) is showing a message that it is blocked, even after updating drivers and reloading the BIOS. Let’s go through steps to troubleshoot this.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS/UEFI.

Look for Integrated Camera / Webcam settings.

Make sure the camera is enabled.

Save changes and exit BIOS.

Check Windows Privacy Settings

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

Ensure “Allow apps to access your camera” is turned on.

Also, make sure the app you’re trying to use is allowed access.

Check Device Manager

Press Win + X → Device Manager → Cameras.

If the camera appears, right-click and select Enable device.

If the camera is not listed, click Action → Scan for hardware changes.

Check for Physical or Function Keys

Some HP laptops have a function key combination to disable/enable the camera (like Fn + F8 or a key with a camera icon).

Press this key combination to unblock the camera.

Uninstall and Reinstall Camera Drivers

In Device Manager, right-click the camera → Uninstall device.

Restart the laptop.

Windows should automatically reinstall a compatible driver.

Check for BIOS or Firmware Updates

Use HP Support Assistant to ensure BIOS and firmware are up to date.

Sometimes a BIOS reload can reset camera permissions or security features.

Camera Blocked by Security Setting

Some HP models have a camera hardware kill switch built into BIOS or firmware for privacy.

Look for “Camera Security” or “Device Security” in BIOS and disable the block.

I hope this helps.
