Hi @Lpatton,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a recurring issue with an application or service on your HP 14-Cf2000 Laptop PC. Here are some steps you can follow to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem:

Identify the Application: First, try to identify which application is causing the pop-up message. Check if the message gives any clues about the app's name or function. If it mentions a specific app, that will help you target the solution more directly.

Check Compatibility Settings:

  • Right-click on the application's executable file and select 'Properties'.
  • Go to the 'Compatibility' tab.
  • Check if the application is set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. If it is, try turning this off or switching to a different version.

Update the Application: Check if there are any updates available for the application. Sometimes, compatibility issues are resolved in newer versions of the software.

Run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter:

  • Go to 'Settings' > 'Update & Security' > 'Troubleshoot' > 'Additional troubleshooters'.
  • Select 'Program Compatibility Troubleshooter', then run it and follow the prompts. This tool can help fix common compatibility issues.

Scan for Malware: Sometimes, malware can cause unusual messages or behavior. Run a thorough scan using your antivirus software to rule out the possibility of malware affecting your system.

System File Checker (SFC) Scan:

  • Open the Command Prompt as an administrator (you can search for 'cmd' in the Windows search bar, right-click on 'Command Prompt' and select 'Run as administrator').
  • In the Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan your system for corrupted files and attempt to fix them.

Check Event Viewer: The Event Viewer can provide more detailed information about what's causing the error. To access it:

  • Press Win + R, type eventvwr.msc, and press Enter.
  • Navigate to 'Windows Logs' > 'Application'. Look for recent error messages that coincide with the times you've seen the pop-up. This might give you more insight into what's going wrong.

Update Drivers and Windows: Ensure that all your device drivers, particularly graphics and chipset drivers, are up to date. Also, check for any pending Windows updates as they can include important fixes and compatibility patches.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
