I cannot pass bluetooth audio to my JB Flex headphones to my Omnibook. Pairing is fine, test audio under Settings>Sound works but any other audio source will not work. This headphone works elsewhere (iPhone, Thinkpad, Roku Streambar). No matter what I do, JB Flex still binds to “Connected audio” only.
According to my research, the Omnibook is stuck binding the JB Flex to LE Audio instead of A2DP. My ThinkPad and iPhone work because they negotiate A2DP correctly, while this Omnibook does not because the JB Flex → HP profile is corrupted. I have done the following in an attempt to fix this issue:
- Full Bluetooth driver reinstalls
- Removal of all JB Flex device entries
- Clearing Windows Bluetooth caches
- Registry pairing key removal
- Full shutdown cycles
- Forced A2DP profile reload attempts
- Headset‑side resets
- Cross‑device validation
- Final diagnosis (per‑device A2DP profile corruption)
- Bluetooth drive update

Hi @mdk1234
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
I understand that your JBL Flex headphones pair successfully with the HP OmniBook 7 16-ay0000 and work with the Windows sound test, but audio from other applications is not being transmitted. Since you have already reinstalled the Bluetooth drivers, removed and re-paired the headphones, cleared Bluetooth-related settings, reset the headset, and confirmed that it works with other devices, the issue appears to be isolated to the Bluetooth audio connection. I would request you to perform the following steps:
Open Settings
- Press the Windows key + I on your keyboard,
- Or click Start and select the gear-shaped Settings icon.
Go to Bluetooth & devices
- In the left sidebar of Settings, click "Bluetooth & devices."
Open DevicesOn the Bluetooth & devices page,
- Click the "Devices" tile on the right side.
- This opens a list of all paired devices.
Find the LE Audio toggle
- Scroll down to the "Device settings" section near the bottom of the Devices page.
- Look for a toggle labeled "Use LE Audio when available.
- If you don't see it, your PC likely doesn't expose LE Audio support skip to the Device Manager steps below to confirm.
Turn the toggle off
- If the toggle is On, click it to switch it Off.
- This forces all Bluetooth audio devices on this PC to use Classic Audio (A2DP/HFP) instead of LE Audio.
Reconnect the JBL Flex
- Turn Bluetooth off and back on, or remove and re-pair the JBL Flex
- So it renegotiates its connection under the new setting.
- Then try playing real audio (not just the test tone).
If no toggle appeared
- Check Device ManagerRight-click the Start button and choose "Device Manager.
- Expand "Bluetooth," then find your Bluetooth radio (it may say "Intel Wireless Bluetooth," "Qualcomm," "MediaTek," or similar — not a specific headset name).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello Pallipurath
Thanks for your response, which I had somehow missed earlier.
I had the toggle available, turned it off, rebooted, but it still does not pass audio, includng the test audio. There is audio activity seen under System>Sound>Properties but no actual audio. From the Bluetooth view, the device shows as "Connected audio".
Thank you!
Mitch

Hi @mdk1234,
Thank you for the detailed troubleshooting you've already completed. Based on everything you've described, this does not appear to be a normal pairing issue, driver issue, or headset issue.
The problem is likely related to the Bluetooth audio profile negotiation between the OmniBook and the JBL Flex, or a Bluetooth stack issue specific to this PC.
Kindly try these final checks:
- Set JBL Flex as the default playback device
- Go to Settings > System > Sound
- Under Output, select the JBL Flex
- Make sure no other device is set as the default output
- Disable Audio Enhancements
- Settings > System > Sound
- Select JBL Flex
- Turn Audio Enhancements Off
- Turn Spatial Audio Off
- Test with Another Bluetooth Audio Device
- If a different Bluetooth headset or speaker works normally, the issue is isolated to the JBL Flex profile.
- If all Bluetooth audio devices exhibit the same behavior, the issue is likely with the OmniBook's Bluetooth subsystem.
If the JBL Flex still pairs but produces no audio after all of the above steps, At that point, It may need a review from the indepth hardware diagnostics, Bluetooth logs, and firmware compatibility with the wireless adapter installed in your OmniBook.

Hello,
I followed all your steps and even disabled ("Don't Allow") on any other audio output so I can isolate this to the JB Flex. Result: Connected but no audio. I proceeded to pair a new device (cheap earbuds) and they worked immediately.
Since it appears that the issue involves the JBL Flex profile, what can be done next? Can that profile be deleted and a new one created upon pairing? I thought I had done that already too.
Thank you for your help.

Hi @mdk1234,
Thank you for taking the time to perform all of the troubleshooting steps and for testing with a second Bluetooth audio device. I understand how this must be, especially since your JBL Flex pairs successfully but still produces no audio while another Bluetooth headset works without any issues.
Based on the results you've shared, it does appear that the issue is specific to the communication between the JBL Flex audio profile and the Bluetooth subsystem on your HP OmniBook. Since you've already re-paired the device, removed and re-added the connection, verified the audio settings, and confirmed that other Bluetooth audio devices function normally.
