I have a HP laptop, product number 66Z33UA#ABA, Serial Number: Editted.  About 8 or 9 months ago my computer decided it was located in Ashburn, VA.  I live in King of Prussia, PA, have NEVER been to Ashburn, VA and the computer has NEVER been outside this house!  I have followed the instructions exactly to reset the computer location twice and both times, within an hour or less it reverts back to Ashburn, VA.  I went to my internet provider, Comcast, and they told me it's a HP problem hence, my asking for your help?  Has anybody else experienced this problem?  My neighbor who's a "computer guy" suggested that it is possibly the result of a HP upgrade done while the computer was idle?  Any help will be appreciated.

Hi @rbauersmith,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems you're experiencing a persistent issue with your computer's location settings

Try these steps:

Check Windows Location Settings:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Privacy & Security" > "Location."
  • Ensure that "Location Services" is turned on, and let apps use your precise location.
  • Check which apps are granted location access and if any of them might be influencing this setting.

Update IP Geolocation:

  • Sometimes, your internet service provider's IP address can appear to be in a different location due to where their servers are located.
  • Unfortunately, there's little you can personally do about this except contact your ISP to inquire if your IP location might be incorrect.

Use a Location-Specific App or Service:

  • Use applications that can bypass IP location detection, like VPNs or specific browser extensions, to manually set your location.

Adjust Regional Settings:

  • Navigate to "Settings" > "Time & Language" and make sure your region and language settings are set correctly to correspond with your actual location in King of Prussia, PA.

Disable Location-Based Apps or Services Temporarily:

  • If possible, identify apps that might be overriding your location settings and disable them temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

Web Browser Location Settings:

  • Sometimes browsers can cache location data. Check your browser settings specifically for location permissions and clear cache/data if necessary.

I hope this helps.
