I have an HP pavilion 360 laptop. The cursor keeps disappearing sometimes. It comes back when I restart it, but sometimes I have to reset or update or run a diagnostic. It has been happening way too often now. What could be the issue. I rarely rotate the screen a full 180 so I don't know why it's happening. Any advice what can I do? I'm not at all a tech savvy person so tell me like a 2nd grader Thanks

@hokenbo2, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your cursor keeps disappearing on your HP Pavilion x360 laptop, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some simple steps to help you troubleshoot and fix this problem:

Update the Touchpad Drivers:

  • Press the Windows key + X simultaneously and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Mice and other pointing devices section.
  • Right-click on your Touchpad device and select Update driver.
  • Follow the prompts to search for updated drivers automatically.

Check Mouse Settings:

  • Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Devices > Mouse & Touchpad.
  • Ensure that the Touchpad is enabled.
  • Click on Additional mouse options on the right.
  • In the Mouse Properties window, check the settings and ensure that nothing is disabling the cursor.

Disable Tablet Mode:

  • Sometimes, tablet mode can cause the cursor to disappear.
  • Click on the Action Center icon at the bottom right corner of the desktop (or press Windows key + A).
  • Ensure Tablet mode is turned off.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Hardware and Devices and run the troubleshooter.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can fix the issue.
  • Click on the Start button, select Power, and then click Restart.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates and install any updates that are available.

Reset Touchpad Settings:

  • Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Devices > Touchpad.
  • Scroll to the bottom and click Reset.
