My in-built camera had been glitching since 27th Aug 2024, and then when I installed the most recent update, all od a sudden it stopped and the screen showed the error (check the screenshot), also the when I go to the settings and camera it shows that no cameras are available. No Camera driver softwares are available as well. I need to install camera deriver. I already reached out to Windows Support and they had tried everything that they could including the restore point of the system.

Hi @Unsortedblinker,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the camera.
It sounds like your HP Laptop PC 14-d2000 (2D128AV) is experiencing a camera driver issue that was not resolved by the recent updates or by the support steps you've already tried. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and install the correct camera driver for your laptop:
Step 1: Check Device Manager for the Camera
- Open Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Check under "Imaging devices" or "Cameras":
- Look for your camera under these sections. If you don't see it, check under Unknown Devices or Other Devices.
- If there’s a yellow triangle or the camera is listed as an unknown device, it indicates a driver problem.
Step 2: Install or Update Camera Driver Manually
Since Windows Update didn’t solve the issue, you can try downloading and installing the driver manually:
- Visit the HP Support Website:
- Go to the HP Support page.
- Enter your laptop's model number (HP Laptop PC 14-d2000) in the search bar and select your device.
- Download the Camera Driver:
- Navigate to the Drivers & Software section.
- Select your operating system version (Windows 11 or 10).
- Look for the camera driver under the Driver-Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices or similar section. Download and install the latest driver available.
- If No Specific Driver Is Available:
- Download and install the latest Chipset driver and BIOS update if available. Sometimes the camera drivers are integrated with the chipset drivers.
Step 3: Use the Windows Camera Troubleshooter
- Open Windows Settings:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Camera:
- Run the Camera troubleshooter to detect and fix any additional issues.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Unsortedblinker,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Step 4: Reinstall the Camera Driver from Device Manager
- Uninstall Existing Driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the camera (if listed), and select Uninstall device. Confirm by checking Delete the driver software for this device if prompted.
- Scan for Hardware Changes:
- Click on the Action menu at the top, then select Scan for hardware changes. Windows should attempt to reinstall the default camera driver.
Step 5: Check BIOS Settings
Ensure the camera is enabled in the BIOS settings:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 (or the appropriate key) to enter BIOS Setup.
- Look for settings related to Built-in Device Options or Integrated Peripherals.
- Ensure the Camera is enabled. Save changes and exit BIOS.
Step 6: Use Generic USB Camera Driver
If no specific HP driver is available or works:
- Go back to Device Manager.
- Right-click on the camera (if listed under unknown or other devices).
- Choose Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
- Select the USB Video Device driver from the list and install it.
These steps should help get your camera functioning again. If the issue persists after trying all these solutions, it might indicate a hardware issue with the camera module itself. In that case, contact phone support or the service center for service.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Really grateful for the step by step solution. But Sadly it is not working for my system as my windows 11 is 23H2, and the drivers softwares available on the website are for 21H2, 22H2 or 24H2. Despite this I tried the drivers for 22H2 version but that did not solve the issue. The Camera is not available on the device manager anymore.
