Nice looking model -- and yes, the silver or gold keyboard is difficult to see during daylight or in a lighted room, even with the backlight switched on.
It looks like there is a black keyboard replacement option in the Maintenance and Service Guide -- Page 63
It's a lot of work to replace a keyboard - disassembly of this type is perhaps not a task for the novice technician.

Thanks very much for your reply. I do appreciate you looking into this for me however,
I do not consider I should have to pay for a black keyboard as I'm not the only person that has this problem. I do not want to pay for a manufacture fault as I see it.
For now I have just gone over the letters with a black pointed sharpie. I don't know how long it will last but the blacks not coming off on my fingers at the moment and it's so much clearer.
If I do get that problem I will cover the letters with a little see through nail varnish.
Thanks again for trying to help me.

You are welcome.
Years ago I had a system that was silver on silver -- I've never again made that choice.
I'm fortunate that, for the most part, I need not look at the keys to type.
It was a lesson learned.
Yes, marking the keys and covering with clear polish is a solution, too.
