Hi @Ss2025 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP All-in-One Desktop PC 24-cb1000a's wireless keyboard is requiring battery changes every day, here are some possible causes and solutions:

Possible Causes:

  1. Faulty Batteries – If you are using cheap or old batteries, they might drain quickly.
  2. Power-Hungry Features – Some keyboards have backlighting or other features that consume more power.
  3. Interference Issues – Other wireless devices, WiFi routers, or even USB 3.0 devices can interfere with the keyboard's signal, causing power drain.
  4. Defective Keyboard – A malfunctioning keyboard might be consuming excessive power.
  5. Loose or Damaged USB Receiver – If the keyboard uses a USB dongle, make sure it's firmly plugged into the PC and not damaged.
  6. Firmware or Driver Issues – Outdated or corrupt drivers might cause communication errors that make the keyboard work harder, draining the battery faster.
  7. Continuous Connection/Disconnection – If the keyboard is frequently losing and regaining connection, it may use extra power to re-establish communication.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Step 1: Check Batteries

  • Use high-quality alkaline or rechargeable batteries (like Duracell, Energizer, or Eneloop).
  • If using rechargeable batteries, ensure they are fully charged.

Step 2: Check for Wireless Interference

  • Keep the keyboard closer to the PC.
  • Avoid placing the PC near WiFi routers, Bluetooth devices, or other 2.4GHz wireless devices.

Step 3: Test a Different USB Port

  • If the keyboard has a USB receiver, try plugging it into a different USB port (preferably USB 2.0 instead of USB 3.0).

Step 4: Reconnect the Keyboard

  1. For a Bluetooth keyboard:
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
    • Remove the keyboard and pair it again.
  2. For a USB receiver keyboard:
    • Unplug the receiver, restart your PC, then plug it back in.

Step 5: Update Drivers

  1. Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboards.
  3. Right-click your keyboard and select Update driver.
  4. Restart your PC.

Step 6: Try Another Keyboard

  • If possible, test with another wireless keyboard.
  • If the new keyboard works fine, your current one might be faulty.

Step 7: Check for HP Firmware or Software Updates

  • Visit HP Support Assistant or HP’s website to check for updates specific to your PC model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
