Hi @S_a_r_2002,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion notebook’s microphone is not working and you hear a weird beeping sound, it usually points to either:

  • Audio driver or settings issue
  • Hardware fault (loose mic connection or internal failure)
  • Feedback loop (mic picking up internal sounds)

Let’s troubleshoot step by step:

1. Check Microphone Settings

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar → Sound settings.
  • Under Input, make sure the correct microphone is selected.
  • Click Device PropertiesTest your microphone.

2. Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter.

3. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Press Win + XDevice Manager.
  • Expand Audio inputs and outputs.
  • Right-click your microphone → Update driver.
  • If that doesn’t help, uninstall and restart (Windows will reinstall automatically).
  • For best results, download the latest driver from HP:

4. Check for Feedback or Beeping

  • If the beeping happens when using apps like Zoom or Teams, it might be audio feedback.
  • Lower speaker volume or use headphones.
  • Disable Listen to this device in mic properties.

5. BIOS and HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press F2 or EscSystem Diagnostics.
  • Run Audio Test to check hardware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
