My laptop is 3 months old and it has been making whirring sounds.  Went to the web and it stated it may be dust, fan, or hard drive.  Do I need to take this to a computer repair person?  Need help ASAP.

Welcome to the HP Community @Livvy25!

I came across your message about the PC performance issue and wanted to pop in to help 🙂

Going through your post, I understand that the laptop is making a whirring noise. I’d like to know the following details to assist you better:

  1. Is it the laptop fan spinning fastly and thus making the noise?
  2. Are you playing games, watching videos or running any high-end games while this happens?
  3. Is the laptop overheating?
  4. Is your laptop shutting down by itself at any point?

Alternatively, perform a Windows update on your PC. Restart the PC once done. Then update the BIOS and the chipset drivers for this notebook. Go to http://hp.care/2nikIQ9  and enter the PC model number to download and update the BIOS and Chipset drivers.

Restart your PC and check for issue resolution.

Also, try the steps listed below to fix the issue:http://hp.care/2oPjRqD

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Good luck 🙂
