Hi @ARAyon,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the keyboard issue on your HP Spectre x360 may be related to a stuck function key (Fn) or sticky key settings, where your keyboard is interpreting normal keypresses as shortcut commands. Since you mentioned the problem persists even when using the touchscreen keyboard, it suggests that the issue could be deeper than just the physical keyboard.
Check Sticky Keys and Accessibility Settings
- Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
- Make sure Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, and Toggle Keys are turned off.
- If these settings are enabled, they might cause keyboard behavior issues by treating keypresses as special commands.
Disable Function Lock (Fn Lock)
- On some HP Spectre x360 models, pressing the Fn key and the Esc key together toggles Function Lock on/off. If it's on, your F keys might be acting as shortcuts.
- Try pressing this combination to disable Function Lock and check if your keyboard behaves normally again.
Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver
- Since uninstalling the keyboard driver and restarting temporarily resolves the issue, it’s possible your current driver is outdated or corrupted.
- To update or reinstall the keyboard driver:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand the Keyboards section.
- Right-click your keyboard device (typically "Standard PS/2 Keyboard" or something similar), and select Uninstall.
- Restart your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the correct driver.
- Alternatively, visit the HP Support website, find your laptop model, and download the latest keyboard driver.
Perform a Windows Update
- Sometimes, a Windows update can resolve driver-related or system glitches. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for any pending updates.
Check for BIOS Update
- Occasionally, BIOS updates can resolve hardware-related issues, including keyboard functionality.
- Go to HP Support and download the latest BIOS version for your specific model. Follow the instructions to safely update your BIOS.

Test in Safe Mode
- Booting into Safe Mode will help you determine if the issue is caused by third-party software or drivers.
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and hit Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab and select Safe boot, then restart.
- In Safe Mode, test if the keyboard behaves normally. If it does, a third-party program or driver might be causing the issue.
Reset or Refresh Windows
- If the problem persists after trying all of the above, you may need to reset or refresh your Windows installation to eliminate any potential system corruption.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
- Choose Reset this PC, and select either Keep my files or Remove everything depending on your preference.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
