This error typically points to a BIOS or CMOS configuration problem, often triggered by a failed update, battery drain, or hardware instability. Here's a structured approach to help you resolve it:

 

Step-by-Step Recovery for CMOS Reset (502)

1. Perform a Full Power Drain

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any connected peripherals.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect the power and try booting again.

 

2. Clear CMOS via BIOS Menu

  • If the system boots to the error screen, press F2 or F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Once inside, press F9 to load default settings.
  • Press F10 to save and exit.

 

3. Update BIOS Using USB Recovery

 

4. Check RTC Battery (if accessible)

  • If your laptop is out of warranty and you're comfortable opening it:
    • Look for a coin-cell battery on the motherboard.
    • If removable, reseat or replace it.
