Hi @W_Ahmed,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion X360 Convertible 14 slows down and lags when you plug in the charger, there could be a few reasons behind this issue.

  • Power Settings: Check your power settings to ensure that your laptop is not switching to a power-saving mode when the charger is connected. Sometimes, laptops are configured to reduce performance to save power when on battery, but this setting might not adjust properly when plugged in.
  • Background Processes: Plugging in the charger might trigger certain background processes or updates that consume system resources. Check your task manager to see if any particular process is consuming an unusual amount of CPU or memory.
  • Power Adapter: If you're using a power adapter that's not compatible with your laptop's power requirements, it might not be providing enough power, which can cause the laptop to slow down. Make sure you're using the correct power adapter provided by HP.
  • Battery Health: If your laptop's battery health is poor, it might not be able to sustain performance when the charger is plugged in. You can check the battery health using diagnostic tools provided by HP.
  • Software Issue: There could be a software issue causing the slowdown. Try updating your drivers and operating system to the latest versions, as updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.
  • Overheating: When plugged in, laptops sometimes generate more heat due to increased power consumption. If your laptop is overheating, it might throttle performance to prevent damage. Ensure that your laptop's vents are clear of dust and debris and consider using a laptop cooling pad.
  • Malware or Virus: A malware infection can also cause your laptop to slow down. Run a full antivirus scan to check for any malicious software.

Try addressing these possible causes one by one to identify and resolve the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
