Hi @Batmanisme
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're unable to enable the Play Store on your HP Chromebook 14 even though it's your personal device, there are a few potential reasons and solutions to try. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Ensure Your Chromebook is Running the Latest Chrome OS Version
The Play Store feature is supported on most modern Chromebooks, but it's important to make sure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS.
- Check Chrome OS Version:
- Click on the time in the bottom-right corner of your screen.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down to About Chrome OS and click on it.
- Click on Check for Updates.
If updates are available, install them and restart your Chromebook.
2. Verify That Your Chromebook Supports the Google Play Store
Although most newer Chromebooks support the Play Store, there may be some older models that do not. To check:
- Open Settings.
- Scroll down to Google Play Store.
- If you don’t see an option to enable the Play Store, it could mean your device doesn’t support it.
If the option is present, try enabling it manually by toggling the option.
3. Ensure You're Using a Personal Google Account
Make sure you're signed in with a personal Google account, not a school or work account. Managed accounts can restrict the ability to enable the Play Store.
- Go to Settings > Accounts.
- If you're using a school or work account, sign out and sign in with a personal Google account.
4. Try Enabling the Play Store Manually
If the Play Store is available but not showing up, follow these steps to enable it:
- Open Settings.
- Scroll down to the Google Play Store section.
- You should see an option that says "Install apps and games from Google Play on your Chromebook". Toggle the switch to On.
- If prompted, agree to the Terms of Service.
- Follow the instructions to set up the Play Store.
If you don’t see this option, your Chromebook may not support the feature, or there could be a system glitch.
I hope this helps.
