Hi @Jstowman,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're encountering issues with downloading HP Support Assistant or similar HP tools on your HP Notebook 15-bs015dx after resetting your PC.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue and install the necessary drivers:

1. Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure that Windows 10 is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Sometimes missing updates can prevent applications from installing properly.

2. Run the Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter and Windows Update Troubleshooter to resolve any potential installation issues.

3. Manually Download HP Support Assistant HP Support Assistant

  • Go to HP's official HP Support Assistant page.
  • Download the latest version directly from HP’s website rather than using a previous installer.
  • Ensure your browser or antivirus is not blocking the download (temporarily disable antivirus if needed).

4. Clear Temporary Files and Cache

  • Sometimes corrupt cache or temporary files can cause installation issues.
  • Press Windows + R, type temp, and press Enter. Delete all files in the folder that opens.
  • Again, press Windows + R, type %temp%, and press Enter. Delete all files.
  • Clear your browser cache as well.

5. Disable Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily

  • If you have third-party antivirus or firewall software, temporarily disable it and try downloading HP Support Assistant again. Sometimes these tools can block legitimate downloads.

6. Use HP’s Driver and Software Page

  • If the HP Support Assistant still won’t install, you can manually download the drivers from HP’s official driver page for your notebook model:
    1. Visit the HP Drivers & Software page.
    2. Enter your device model (HP Notebook 15-bs015dx) and find the appropriate drivers.
    3. Download and install the drivers directly from there.

7. Use Windows Device Manager to Install Drivers

If the above methods fail, you can also install drivers through Windows Device Manager:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Find the device with the missing driver (often marked with a yellow triangle), right-click, and choose Update Driver.
  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

Refer to this document: HP Notebook - 15-bs015dx User Manual

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
