Hi @SndZeem

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It’s frustrating when a new laptop doesn’t perform as expected, especially in games that should run smoothly. Since your HP Laptop 15-fc0xxx with Ryzen 5 7000 series and AMD Radeon graphics is struggling to hit 60 FPS even in light games, let’s go through some steps to optimize performance.

Step 1: Update Graphics Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
  2. Expand Display Adapters and right-click AMD Radeon Graphics.
  3. Select Update Driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
  4. Alternatively, download the latest drivers from AMD’s official site.

Step 2: Adjust Graphics Settings

  1. Open AMD Radeon Software (right-click desktop > AMD Radeon Settings).
  2. Go to Gaming > Graphics and set:
    • Anti-Aliasing: Off
    • Texture Filtering: Performance
    • V-Sync: Off
    • Radeon Chill: Disabled
    • Radeon Boost: Enabled
  3. Apply changes and restart your laptop.

Step 3: Optimize Windows Settings

  1. Open Settings > System > Display.
  2. Scroll down to Graphics Settings and enable Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.
  3. Set Power Mode to Best Performance under Settings > System > Power & Battery.

Step 4: Disable Background Processes

  1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  2. Go to the Startup tab and disable unnecessary apps.
  3. Under Processes, end tasks consuming high CPU or memory.

Step 5: Check for Thermal Throttling

  1. Download HWMonitor or AMD Ryzen Master to check CPU/GPU temperatures.
  2. If temps exceed 85°C, clean the laptop vents and consider a cooling pad.

Step 6: Adjust In-Game Settings

For Valorant, CS2, and Roblox, set:

  • Resolution: 720p or 1080p (avoid 4K)
  • Graphics Quality: Low
  • Shadows & Effects: Off
  • V-Sync: Off
  • FPS Cap: Unlimited

Step 7: Update Windows & BIOS

  1. Open Settings > Windows Update and install pending updates.
  2. Visit HP’s support page to check for BIOS updates.

Let me know how these steps work for you! 😊
