Hi everyone,

I have an old HP Pavilion dm1-4000sb that I recently upgraded and brought back to life. It is from 2012 but has hardly ever been used.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:

- Added 4 GB of RAM (now 8 GB total)
- Replaced the HDD with a Lexar NQ100 240GB SSD
- Added a TP-Link AC600 USB WiFi + Bluetooth adapter
- Installed Windows 11, fully debloated and optimized

To my surprise, Windows 11 runs quite smoothly on this little machine after all the tweaks!
However, I’m facing a recurring issue where the keyboard and touchpad stop working randomly, then work again after a reboot.

I wanted to update the BIOS and reinstall the correct drivers (especially for the touchpad and chipset), but it looks like HP has removed the official support page for the dm1 series, including my 4000sb model.

Could anyone please help me find:

- The latest BIOS version compatible with the dm1-4000sb
- The correct Synaptics touchpad and chipset drivers for Windows 10/11
- Any workaround for the keyboard/touchpad freezing issue

I’d really appreciate any help, links, or archived downloads that could get this HP dm1 fully functional again.

Thanks a lot in advance for your time and support!

Hi:

HP retired support for your PC since it is more than 10 years old which is why you can't find any drivers for it.

HP never supported the PC for W10, so you won't find any W10 drivers for it.

There are only drivers for W7 and W8.

The only place that I know of where you can still find drivers for your notebook would be from this reputable 3rd party website.

Thank you. I didn't know this site existed. I found the old drivers for my 4000sb. I also used IObit Driver Booster in the meantime, and everything is working now. Thank you for your help.

You're very welcome.

That is great news.

Since you are running W11 on an unsupported PC (I have several like that), have you updated to 25H2 yet?

If not, let me know because there is a very easy way to do an in-place upgrade from W11 24H2>W11 25H2 using one simple file called the Microsoft W11 25H2 enablement package.
