SLOW... SLOW... SLOW... Spent an hour with HP support trying to improve the response speed/time of my new HP Envy i7 laptop which churns away to connect to a webpage and is unable to display a 1 minute video without stopping in the middle of the video to download content. In many cases, the laptop has trouble connecting to a formatted webpage (we need to refresh the page to get the formatting). After tweaking a few things, HP support encouraged me to buy an extended warranty! I'm now shopping for a second laptop for a family member. What is HP's fix for a what is advertised as a high-end gaming laptop?

Hi @Florida2025, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I hope this helps.
It sounds like your new HP Envy 17.3" is moving slower than a sloth in a hammock, and that’s certainly not what you'd expect from a laptop with an Intel i7! It’s frustrating when high-performance unit ends up underperforming like this.
Please try these steps,
Check for System Updates:
Ensure that Windows, drivers, and BIOS are all up-to-date. Sometimes, newer updates can resolve compatibility or performance issues.
System Resource Usage:
They should check Task Manager to see if there are any background applications consuming a high amount of CPU, RAM, or disk resources. If they notice unnecessary apps running, they should end them or disable them from starting up with the system.
Network Connectivity:
Slow webpage loading could be a network issue. They should ensure their Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection is stable and fast. It might be helpful to check speeds on another device to rule out router issues. They could also try connecting to a different network to see if the issue persists.
Browser Performance:
Recommend clearing the browser cache and disabling any resource-heavy extensions. It might also be worth testing with a different browser like Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome to see if the issue is browser-related.
Driver Issues:
Sometimes, outdated or corrupt drivers can affect performance. They should check for updates to critical drivers like the graphics card, network adapter, and chipset drivers via the HP Support Assistant or Device Manager.
Performance Settings:
Encourage them to adjust the laptop’s power settings for maximum performance. In Windows, they can do this by navigating to Control Panel > Power Options and selecting the High Performance plan.
Take care and have a good day.
