Hi everyone,

While trying to update the TPM (1.2 -> 2.0) on an HP ProBook 450 G3, I noticed that TPM updates aren't listed on the official driver page.

Thanks to a post here in the forum (shoutout to Paul_Tikkanen), I came across this helpful document.

But it got me wondering:

Why aren’t TPM updates listed on the driver support page?
I feel like that used to be different in the past.

Does that mean the only way to find them is to manually dig through the security bulletins or use HPIA?

That seems a bit inconvenient for SOHO users.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Cheers, Martin

Hi, Martin:

I've never seen TPM updates on the HP business notebook or desktop PC's support pages.

There was an older security link which has since been removed with older file numbers that did basically the same upgrade info, but none on the driver page.

It would be nice if HP included this link on all PC's eligible for such a firmware upgrade but they don't.

If you want to upgrade the TPM firmware in your notebook to 2.0, the actual instructions to do so are contained within the sp87753.exe file.

I upgraded my HP Elitedesk 800 G3 DM PC's TPM 1.2 firmware to 2.0 and it was easy enough to do and worked fine.

I just did it to make it more in compliance with W11's minimum hardware requirement and even though my PC's i5-6500T processor is not supported to run W11, it works just fine on W11 which I have been running on it for the last two years.

I have also attached those instructions that you find inside the sp87753.exe below:
