HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 (70Q99AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

After the blue screen (with a sad face), my audio driver disappeared.

I've tried to install it multiple times, but the download fails using HP's automated tool. So I do it manually, and it does download, but then it won't finish the installation process.

This is for drivers and anything else I've tried, such as HP's diagnostic tool.

I'm assuming it's related to the blue screen (with a sad face) that my computer had the other day. This all started 7 days out of my warranty period 😞

try rolling back the audio driver

If you have blue screen problems (BSOD) you may have old drivers that need to be updated. There is also a possibility that a Microsoft released driver was not compatible with your hardware. This does not happen too often, but when it does you need to roll back the driver to your old HP driver.

The device manager can be used to check the date and version of the driver you are using. The images below show dates for the Realtek audio driver and an Intel Wi-Fi driver.

Note that the Realtek is older and cannot be rolled back. Possibly there is a newer release. The Intel driver is new and can be rolled back. Use the latest HP Support Assistant to find the latest HP released drivers.

Typically, if there is a driver problem, a yellow or red colored warning will show up.

If the roll back does not work, then look for a restore point and have windows restore itself from before the problem occurred

----some advice seeing as you are recently out of warranty---

HP is removing cloud recovery for system over 5 years old.
The actual wording is a limited time after the warranty expires
You may want to get a copy of the cloud recovery before it is too late.
Cloud recovery provides all the custom HP drivers.
Go to the below site and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character
If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 32gb flash.
It may take an hour or more to create the recovery USB.

Alternately, download from the MS windows store
