HI @Lucifer214,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop has the Num Lock key set to activate the alternate functions (such as Home, Page Up, etc.) instead of the numeric keypad. This is commonly called "numpad as navigation keys".
Here's how you can try to resolve this issue:
Check the Num Lock Key
- Press the Num Lock key: This should toggle between numeric mode (numbers) and navigation mode (like Home, End, Page Up/Down).
- The Num Lock LED light on your keyboard should indicate which mode is active (light on means Num Lock is on for numbers, light off means navigation functions are active).
Disable "Alternate NumPad" or "Integrated Numeric Keypad" in BIOS
Sometimes, the behavior of the numpad can be controlled from the BIOS settings.
- Restart your laptop.
- During the boot-up, press F10 (or ESC then F10) to enter the BIOS setup.
- Look for a setting related to Num Lock, Alternate Numpad, or Integrated Numeric Keypad. It might be under the "Advanced" or "System Configuration" menu.
- Disable the setting related to "Alternate NumPad" if available.
- Save and exit the BIOS (usually by pressing F10).
Update Keyboard Drivers
If it's still not working, there might be a keyboard driver issue:
- Go to Device Manager (Right-click the Start button > Device Manager).
- Expand Keyboards, right-click on your keyboard, and select Update driver.
- If an update is found, install it and restart your laptop.
Use Windows On-Screen Keyboard
If you need to temporarily use the numeric keypad, you can try the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK):
- Press Win + Ctrl + O to open the On-Screen Keyboard.
- Use the On-Screen Keyboard's numpad for numbers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
