Hi @Sps10,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Check for BIOS and Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website and check for any BIOS or firmware updates for your specific model (OMEN O16 with an i7-12th Gen CPU). Installing the latest updates can sometimes resolve power and performance issues.
Restore Default NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Go to Manage 3D settings > Global Settings.
- Set the Power management mode to Prefer maximum performance.
- Ensure all other settings are optimized for performance.
Calibrate Windows Display Brightness Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Display.
- Under Brightness & color, manually adjust the brightness slider to your desired level.
- This setting might be adjusted automatically after the reset due to power-saving defaults.
Perform a Clean Boot:
- A clean boot might help identify any third-party apps that are causing conflicts with power management settings.
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and hit Enter.
- Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager, and disable all startup items.
- Restart your laptop to see if performance improves.
Reinstall Power Management and Battery Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expand the Batteries section.
- Right-click on Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and choose Uninstall device. Do not uninstall if prompted to delete the driver.
- Restart your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the necessary drivers.
If the Problem Persists:
- Reset OMEN Gaming Hub: Sometimes, resetting or reinstalling the OMEN Gaming Hub can resolve configuration issues that affect performance.
- Check for Background Apps: Ensure no background applications are running that may be limiting performance. Use the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check.
These steps should help restore your laptop's performance and brightness settings when unplugged. If the issue persists, I recommend you contact phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Sps10,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the Omen gaming hub.
It sounds like your OMEN O16 laptop is experiencing power management issues after the reset, which is causing reduced performance and automatic brightness adjustment when unplugged. Here are some steps to help you restore your laptop’s performance and brightness settings:
Steps to Fix FPS Capping and Brightness Issues
Check Windows Power Plan Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional power settings (or type “Power Plan” in the search bar).
- Make sure the power plan is set to High Performance or Ultimate Performance.
- Click on Change plan settings next to your active power plan and then Change Advanced Power Settings.
- Under Processor power management, set the Minimum processor state to 100% on both Plugged in and On battery.
- Under Graphics settings, set your graphics power plan to Maximum performance.
Adjust OMEN Gaming Hub Settings:
- Open the OMEN Gaming Hub and ensure that the Power Mode is set to Performance.
- Go to the Thermal Control settings and select Max Fan Mode if available. This can help improve cooling and performance.
Disable Battery Saver Mode:
- Go to Settings > System > Battery and ensure that the Battery saver is turned off. This mode can limit performance when on battery power.
- If Battery saver is automatically turning on at a certain percentage, adjust the threshold or disable it completely.
Disable Adaptive Brightness:
- Go to Settings > System > Display.
- Scroll down to Brightness & color and make sure Change brightness automatically when lighting changes is turned off.
- If this option isn't visible, go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings for your selected power plan, then Change advanced power settings.
- Under Display, disable Adaptive brightness for both battery and plugged-in modes.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Ensure that your NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti drivers are up to date. Download the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website or use the GeForce Experience app to check for updates.
- Also, make sure your Intel integrated graphics drivers are updated, as some settings might rely on the integrated GPU.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
