OMEN-NEW LAPTOP ALT+ENTER KEY NOT WORKING DURING USE OF XL

Hi @HEMANT48

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s got to be annoying—especially when a simple shortcut like Alt + Enter suddenly stops working in Excel. It can typically be due to a few common issues.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that the keyboard is functioning correctly. Try using the ALT + ENTER key combination in another application to see if it works.

Use On-Screen Keyboard:

  • Open the on-screen keyboard and attempt the ALT + ENTER function to see if it's a hardware issue or software-related.

Update Keyboard Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager and check if there are any updates available for your keyboard driver. Updating the drivers might resolve the issue.

Excel Settings:

  • Make sure that the settings in Excel have not been changed. The ALT + ENTER command is used to insert a line break within a cell. Ensure that the cell is in editing mode by double-clicking before trying the key combination.

Check for Conflicting Software:

  • Some software might interfere with certain keyboard shortcuts. Ensure that there are no background applications that might be causing a conflict.

Excel Add-ins:

  • Disable any Excel add-ins that might be affecting keyboard behavior. Go to File > Options > Add-ins and manage them from there.
