When I run the laptop with no charger connected - temp 35 - 38 when running a game or heavy software - 45 - 60 deg
As soon as I connect the charger, even if only edge is running, the temp spikes to 48 and keeps on jumping to 60 - 80 without any reason (cpu utilisation <10%) . When putting even light load on the cpu, temp spikes to 84 - 99 (CPU utilization <30%).
I've updated all the drivers, tried to clear temp files, etc
Another detail - I run adobe After Effects and blender on this machine, could they be behind this? Maybe they are using too much cache memory or something?
What am I missing? What's the problem and how do I solve it?

Hi@Apporv1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is overheating.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I would like to inform you that 90C is normal on the gaming computer. I recommend you use the Omen command center to change the settings which suit your needs.

The problem is the temperature keeps on spiking without any apps running in idle mode, it has been happening recently and wasn't the case initially (first 10 months or so) when the laptop ran significantly cooler. Also, not only the temperature is spiking unnecessarily but CPU usage also keeps jumping without any reason.
It has started to impede operations, even simple applications like zoom are having a hard time running due to sustained high temperatures while running.

Hi@Apporv1,
`We have done the basic troubleshooting as per the document and the notebook needs to be checked taking remote access so that get to know it's a hardware or software issue.
I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer or HP Chat Support Team.
