OMEN X by HP 900-189na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys,

I wanted to overclock my OMEN X by HP 900-189na and based on google searches using the Command Center seems to be the easiest way, however this did not come with my computer. It says on the help page, that it is available as an optional Softpaq, does that mean that I can actually use it to overclock my PC, and if yes, where do I get it from?

If no, any easy ways of actually overclocking it then?

Thanks

Hello xxavatarxx,

Sorry about the late reply.

According to the software information, the overclocking feature is technically available on this computer with unlocked CPUs.

The OMEN X by HP 900-189na has an Intel Core i7-7700K which is an unlocked processor but...

I actually found that Intel has removed this CPU from its page on overclockable CPUs: https://www.intel.ca/content/www/ca/en/gaming/overclocking-intel-processors.html

You can read more about the i7-7700K's lack of overclocking here: https://www.pcgamer.com/intels-tells-core-i7-7700k-owners-to-stop-overclocking-to-avoid-high-temps/?

So unfortunately, it seems like you won't be able to overclock...

Kind regards,

Eddy

Hello xxavatarxx,

The HP OMEN Command Center was found on your computer's Software and Drivers page:

HP OMEN Command Center

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp84001-84500/sp84071.exe

Also, here's a video from HP in case you need instructions for overclocking:

Hope this helps,

Eddy
