Hi,

If I have dynamic fan curves enabled and have set either CPU or GPU as the reference temperature, will the system still retain my selection after closing the hub?

I am asking because every time I close the hub and reopen it I see CPU selected regardless of my last selection.

I am also uncertain if my system's fan curve actually changes to the CPU curve as soon as I close the hub, or if it retains my previous selection and only reverts back to CPU as default once I reopen the hub.

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the behavior of dynamic fan curve settings in the OMEN Gaming Hub on your HP OMEN 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop (16-k0000 series). 

When you configure a dynamic fan curve in the OMEN Gaming Hub and select either the CPU or GPU as the reference temperature, the system is designed to retain these settings even after closing the application. However, upon reopening the OMEN Gaming Hub, the interface may default to displaying the CPU as the reference temperature, regardless of your previous selection. This behavior is primarily a user interface display issue and does not necessarily indicate that the underlying fan curve settings have changed. 

 

Recommendations:

  1. Monitor Fan Behavior: After setting your desired fan curve with the GPU as the reference, observe the fan speeds during GPU-intensive tasks to determine if the fans respond appropriately to temperature changes.
     
  2. Use CPU as Reference: If you notice that the fans do not adjust correctly with the GPU as the reference, consider using the CPU temperature as the reference point for the fan curve. This approach has been reported to function more reliably.
     
  3. Check for Updates: Ensure that your OMEN Gaming Hub and system BIOS are up to date, as updates may address known issues related to fan control and temperature monitoring.
